Equality and Diversity

lots of flags of the same size.

To achieve the University’s aim of embedding a commitment to equality and diversity, so that we truly value the positive aspects of our differences, it is essential that we all understand our individual responsibilities in this area. For managers, extra responsibilities mean that training is even more important to ensure we are confident and able to work with a diverse workforce.

For an overview of our Equality and Diversity programme and to view clips of staff talking about their experience using the online course and their attendance at the Respecting Diversity course, view our Mandatory Training page.

Unconscious Bias

Unconscious bias refers to a bias that we are unaware of, and which happens outside of our control.

This course explores unconscious bias, how it can affect higher education and the workplace.
If we can control and manage our unconscious biases it releases cognitive and emotional resources. These resources lead to better/fairer decision making and enhanced problem solving, increased ability to think in novel situations, better logical reasoning and more persistence. To book go my.HR.
