Information for Coaches

On this page you will find some key information useful to you as a Loughborough University workplace coach or if you are thinking of becoming a coach.

What do I need to do to join the coaching network?

Loughborough University’s coaches do not have to hold a coaching qualification to apply to be a coach, however, we do require you to evidence any coaching you have given along with how recent this was. Full details are given in the application form to request to join the coaching network. Some of our coaches are qualified through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) to a minimum of Level 3 Award, or equivalent. Coaches are also asked to conduct either recorded or observed coaching to ensure quality assurance periodically.  If you are interested in becoming a workplace coach further information of the ILM courses can be found on the Staff Development website.

We ask that all our coaches commit to a minimum of 5 hours coaching per year in order to remain part of the coaching network. You are required to attend Coach Supervision sessions - these sessions allow you the opportunity to share your coaching experiences and support each other with any challenges that arise.

What support is available to me?

It is essential all coaches feel supported in their volunteer role.  You can always contact Staff Development if you have any concerns, and in addition to this you will be encouraged to attend coaching supervision and development sessions.  You will be invited to these periodically.

Is there particular paperwork I am required to use?

With the exception of the Loughborough University coaching contract, you are not required to complete any other paperwork with the individuals you are coaching.  However, below is some suggested templates you may find useful as a coach.
