Funding

Securing research funding is becoming more and more competitive.  The Library is able to support researchers in the following ways.

Community of Science - Pivot Funding database

The Research Office provides access to a service from the Community of Science called Pivot. This allows you not only to search for other academics and researchers in your field but to add your own profile and sign up to receive notification of Funding Opportunites in your field of interest.  Loughborough University researchers can access this from the Select Database option in Library Catalogue Plus.

Bibliometrics - and how it can help with funding

Research is a highly competitive activity and one of the ways researchers can 'prove their worth' to possible funders is to demonstrate that their published work has been cited by their peers. There are a number of ways you can demonstrate citation impact. You may wish to supply your h-index, or to demonstrate that past publications have been published in prestige journals. There is more information about bibliometrics in the Dissemination section.

Literature reviews for grant proposals

The University Library is able to advise researchers about putting together a good literature review for grant proposals.  This may include information sources to search, search technique, alerting services, and professional (mediated) searching.  Contact your Academic Librarian for one-to-one advice.  Alternatively view our Online tutorials.

Data Management Plans for grant proposals

All the UK Reseach Councils and many other funders now require researchers to write Data Management Plans as part of their research bid.  Use the DCC's Data Management Planning Online Tool to quickly and easily write your Data Management Plan. Theres more information on research data management in our Experimentation section.
