Future Cloud Office Platform

Student Email

As part of the University’s ongoing aim to deliver the best IT provision, student email will be upgraded during the summer, ready for the start of the new academic year. This change will provide a new Office 365 email account for all students enabling access to a more practical interface and improved offline access.

Your Loughborough student email address itself will not change, however, as part of this change the underlying Google Gmail account will be withdrawn and your emails will be moved to your new Microsoft account.

Your new email account will be accessible through the following link using your existing username and password from the start of the new academic year:

This change is part of the widescale move to Office 365 services enabling you to take advantage of the many benefits this platform provides.


Office 365 Benefits include:

  • Unlimited file storage
  • Seamlessly work on documents across all devices
  • Improved mobile device support
  • Access your data from anywhere
  • Robust information assurance guarantees
  • Common software to support future developments like, Microsoft Groups and Sharepoint
  • Easy to use via familiar Microsoft Office applications and easy to access through the existing Outlook Web Access web site
  • Rich collaboration tools for both staff, student and external collaborators - edit the same documents live on screen together

When is this happening?

Important dates for changes to student email;




New Students:

Accounts will be provided on Office 365 from August 2017

Existing Students:

Accounts will be provided from September 2017 

GMail Accounts

These accounts will be removed as part of these changes


What do I need to do?

Upon Go Live of these new services, users should familiarise themselves with the product.
