Store your work documents in a safe place which is regularly backed up and always available to you. In computer labs and (for staff) on your managed staff windows 7 service computer, this appears as Documents. Thus you can work at your desk and your document will be available in the Library or other computer lab. You can also connect over the wireless network or (students) from your HallNet wired connection. You can also connect from Off Campus if you download and use the AnyConnect VPN Client (Links to IT Services Staff pages).
Each student is automatically allocated a 1GB. Increases in excess of 1GB will be considered on request by the course tutor or department IT support staff.
The default quota is 2GB. You can request an increase from the default 2GB to 3GB by e-mailing our Service Desk if all of the space is required for storing work-related files.
If you wish to increase the quota above that, you must contact your local IT Support, or for staff in departments directly supported by IT Services, our Service Desk. They will check if the increase has a legitimate business reason, checking with their SITC for guidance where necessary. The local IT Support contact will contact our Service desk stating the person affected, the amount of storage required, and the business reason.
Any increases over 5GB must be confirmed by IT Services to ensure that storage is available. Any challenge will go to the appropriate Head of School or Department.
On Staff Windows 7 service computers and computer labs, open Documents. In the left-hand navigation pane click the expand triangle so that My Documents appears below. Right click My Documents and select Properties. Look for Size on Disk.
On other Windows computers, open Computer or My Computer, right click the U: drive and select Properties. Look for Used space.

Connecting to your Individual Workspace from Windows
Your Individual Workspace will already be automatically connected as Documents from a Computer Lab or from a Staff Windows 7 Service computer.
This service is very useful for backing up your essential course work. This can also be accessed from Computer Labs and the Library if you are working there.
How do I restore files and folders?
Click on the Start button, right-click Computer. On the pop up menu, select Map Network Drive....
On the Map Network Drive screen, in the Drive: drop down box, select U:
Select the option Reconnect at logon. This will ensure that the connection is restored every time you turn your computer on.
In the Folder: drop down box enter the path shown below for Windows, and click Finish.
Enter lunet\username and password
Type in lunet\username (where username is your username) and your University (Active Directory) password. Click OK.
Note: if you don't know your University (Active Directory) password, it is available from IT Services' Service Desk, the PC Clinic, or the University Library.
Note: If you put a tick in the box marked Remember my password, Windows will not ask you to input your password to 'map the U: drive' every time you restart your computer.
If you didn't put a tick in Remember my password, then every time you start your computer you will get a password prompt to reconnect your U: drive. Enter your University (Active Directory) username and password, and press enter.

This is very useful for backing up your essential course work. This can also be accessed from Computer Labs and the Library if you are working there.

Type the URL below in the Server Address field and alter it so that it fits the following format:
smb://hsx.lboro.ac.uk/yourUsername (the x and yourUsername should be in italics)
Please use forward slashes (/) instead of backslashes (\).
Note: if you don't know your University (Active Directory) password, it is available from IT Services' Service Desk or PC Clinic or the University Library.
Once connected, your individual workspace will be mounted as a network volume. Depending on your Finder preferences you may find this on your desktop or from the Finder side bar. In order to make it quicker and easier to remount in future you could make an alias to your volume or add it to your favourites.
