Welcome to the UK!
On arrival in the UK you may be asked the purpose of your visit. Be prepared to answer questions from the Border Force Officer such as where and what you are studying. You might want to carry your offer letter, CAS, visa decision letter and the documents you used in your visa application in your hand luggage in case you are asked to prove you are coming to study.
Once you have been allowed to enter you will need to collect your BRP from the Post Office you selected in your visa application and confined within your visa decision letter. Hopefully this will be the Post Office in Loughborough, or the one nearest to the London Campus. We suggest you do this as soon as possible after arrival. It is best to have your BRP when you register with the University and if you are required to register with the police.
During the first few weeks of the term we arrange for the Leicestershire Constabulary to be on campus so you can register with them (if this required by your visa or BRP). Please see our Police Registration pages for more information. The Student Advice and Support Service is authorised to provide immigration advice and services by an order made under section 84(4)(d) of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (The Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Part V Exemption: Educational Institutions and Health Sector Bodies) Order 2001 (Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 1403)). Should you have a complaint about the service you can use the Student Advice and Support Service's complaints procedure or you can use the OISC Complaints Scheme.
