Equality Challenge Unit

The Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) works to further and support equality and diversity for staff and students in higher education institutions across the UK and in colleges in Scotland. The ECU is a registered charity, funded through the UK higher education funding bodies and representative organisations.


Leadership Foundation

The Leadership Foundation is committed to developing and improving the management and leadership skills of existing and future leaders of higher education. there are several programmes available including Aurora, a women-only leadership development initiative launched in November 2013.


London Mathematics Society

The London Mathematical Society strongly supports advancing women's careers in university mathematics departments. The Society's Women in Mathematics Committee has developed a Good Practice Scheme with the aim of supporting mathematics departments interested in embedding equal opportunities for women within their working practices.


Project Juno

Project Juno was established by the Institute of Physics in 2007 in response to best practice identified from the Institute's Women in University Physics Departments: a site visit scheme, which ran from 2003-05. The aim of Juno is to recognise and reward departments that can demonstrate they have taken action to address the under-representation of women in university physics and to encourage better practice for both women and men.


Think, Act, Report

Think, Act, Report is a Government policy that provides a simple step-by-step framework to help companies think about gender equality in their workforces, particularly in relation to recruitment, retention, promotion and pay. Loughborough University has signed up to the Think, Act, Report campaign to show its commitment to gender equality in the workplace. supports the initative.


Women's Engineering Society

The Women's Engineering Society is a professional, not-for-profit network of women engineers, scientists and technologists offering inspiration, support and professional development. Working in partnership, we campaign to encourage women to participate and achieve as engineers, scientists and as leaders.


Women in Manufacturing

Women in Manufacturing is a not-for-profit organisation set up by British Glass and The Workshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London to support, attract and retain women in the UK manufacturing sector.


Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE)

WiSE helps organisations to inspire women and girls to pursue STEM subjects as pathways to exciting and fulfilling careers. Loughborough University is a corporate member of WiSE enabling up to 100 University employees to become individual members. If you would like to join WiSE please contact the Athena SWAN Champion of your School/Department. 


Women in Science Research Network (WISRNet)

WISRNet is a project that brings historians, archivists and practising scientists together  to research women's participation in science and learned societies in Britain since 1830
