Training Opportunity - IOSH Managing Safely

13 February 2014

IOSH Managing Safely Training

In July 2013 the LU Health and Safety Service ran an IOSH Managing Safely course for School/Departmental Safety Officers and those who were responsible for health and safety management within their areas of work.  The delegates on the IOSH course committed to four consecutive dates training and successfully completed an examination at the end of the two modules and a work based health and safety assignment.

There was a 100% pass rate for all who attended the course and it was such a success that we will be running a second IOSH Managing Safely Course on 21st - 24th July 2014.

The target audience for “Managing Safely” is for School/Departmental Safety Officers, Operations Managers, line managers and supervisors in all Schools, Departments or Professional Services. Priority will be given to School/Departmental Safety Officers due to the limited places available.

“Managing Safely” is for those who manage health and safety in order to ensure the University remains compliant with legislative requirements and follows the organisation's health and safety policies and best practice. This qualification is designed to update delegates on the practical actions they need to take to manage health and safety in their teams and activities.

 Key topics covered include:

 - Learn how to assess and control risks;

- Understand the demands of the law;

- Investigate accidents and incidents;

- Measure performance;

- Protect your environment.

The objectives of the course are to provide delegates with the knowledge and tools to tackle the health and safety issues they are responsible for at the University. Importantly, it emphasises just why health and safety is such an essential part of their job.

Successful delegates are awarded the IOSH Managing Safely certificate which is a nationally recognised professional health and safety qualification.

For further details about the course please contact Claire Brownless in the Health and Safety Service or log into MyHR to book your place. ‌
