‘The Importance of Caring for Your Back’
6th December, 12-1 pm, Training Room, Graduate House
In this session, Senior Lecturer in English, Jennifer Cooke, and Clinical Lead Performance Physiotherapist, Kerry Glendon, will discuss the importance of caring for our backs while undertaking postgraduate studies. For many of us, academic work means many hours of sitting, often in front of a computer, while reading and writing. This can easily lead to back problems, which are painful, and can lead to long-term damage and can be expensive to treat.
This session will introduce you to basic back musculature information, offer advice, exercises, and activities to help prevent back problems, and develop your awareness of how our cerebral work also requires us to look after our physical selves.
