Workshops

We run a number of groups and workshops for students, run by experienced, qualified and friendly staff. The workshops and groups we offer provide a range of opportunities for personal development, while some function as a brief intervention to help develop ways of managing the pressures of student life. These complement the skill-based workshops offered by, for example, academic departments or the library.

Taking part in workshops and groups can be a very powerful way of dealing with the variety of issues that affect students. As well as the benefit of having peers to share experiences with, and helping many students understand that they are not the only ones thinking and feeling in a particular way, students often find that they have something valuable to offer other students themselves.

By participating in the workshops you can gain credit towards the Loughborough Employability Award. This award recognises the development of valuable employability skills through participation in the many extra-curricular activities across campus. Spaces are limited, so if you register and have your place confirmed, it is important that you endeavour to attend – this applies if the workshop runs for many sessions or just one.

We have arranged our workshops to be as easy-to-access as possible given busy academic timetables. Some of our workshops are open to all students, while some are "closed" and are only available as part of a package of support. The number of participants will vary between 5 and 25.

The full list of workshops currently running is given below the "Book a Place" drop-down menu.

Book a place

For all workshops, you can book your place by emailing ucs@lboro.ac.uk or telephone 01509 222148. You'll need to let us know your name, your University ID, the name of your chosen workshop(s), and the date of the workshop. All of these details are listed in the details of the workshops (below).

Workshops marked as "closed" are only available to specific groups of students. As such, the workshop organiser will need to ascertain whether or not you are eligible to attend and may therefore get back in touch with you.

There is a high demand for workshops so it is important that you make it a priority to attend any workshops that you book.

There may be occasions when either you or the workshop organiser will need to cancel, in which case as much notice as possible should be given so we can then fit in other students who may be waiting. If you miss our workshops frequently then other workshop offers may be withdrawn.
