Support for students

D1723-13

The Mental Health Support Team helping by evaluating the practical impact that mental health difficulties may be having on you as a student.  On receiving your referral the Team may get in touch with you to ask for further information to ascertain if we are the right service for you.  The Team may signpost you to a more appropriate service, or to self-help resources, or offer an initial assessment with a Mental Health Adviser.

At an initial appointment with us, we can talk through the support needs you feel you may have and address these directly or through referral to other specialists.  The Team can liaise with other relevant services internal and external to the University to ensure that all appropriate services are used effectively in supporting you in achieving your academic potential.  The Team offer advice and information about a wide range of issues and factors related to promoting positive mental health and well-being.

If a need for ongoing support to develop coping strategies and address barriers in relation to your education is identified during the initial assessment, then the Adviser will let you know more about what we can offer.
