Counselling and Disability Service

Mitigating Circumstances

In line with wider Counselling and Disability Service policy, the Counselling Service is only able to provide evidence for a Mitigating Circumstances Claim for a student who has been in counselling with the service prior to them starting the claim, and had ongoing counselling at the time of the difficulties being claimed for. We are not able to provide retrospective evidence or evidence based solely on an assessment appointment.

The supporting evidence we can provide would be a  summary of appointments attended by the student and confirmation that the issues discussed in counselling are as outlined on the claim form. We would need a copy of the student’s completed Mitigating Circumstances Claim prior to producing their supporting evidence.

If you are approaching the counselling service for this purpose, please make that clear before making an appointment and we can discuss it with you further.

Before contacting us please read the Loughborough University Mitigating Circumstances Policy. This will help you decide whether we may be able to provide evidence for your claim.
