Loughborough University Graduate Destinations

Our graduates have a proven track record of succeeding in all employment sectors from business, finance and engineering to the arts, publishing, sport and education.

Following graduation in 2016 over 95% of Loughborough UK graduates were in employment or further study and of those in full-time employment 89% were employed in professional or managerial roles.

Information on the first destinations of our graduates is collected via the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey.

What is the DLHE survey?

The Careers Network team at Loughborough University collect, analyse and publish information on our graduate destinations via the DLHE survey.

The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey is conducted nationally for all UK and other EU students who have recently qualified from a UK university.

This annual survey is carried out for the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) six months after graduation, representing an early snapshot of graduate activity. HESA set a target of an 80% response rate for UK graduates.

What are the results of the DLHE survey?

View here key statistics and pie chart information on the destinations of undergraduates, postgraduates and postgraduate researchers.

When exploring the data it is important to use the data in context:

  • As the survey takes place only six months after receiving a qualification, many graduates, for one reason or another, may not have set out on their desired career path.
  • Those graduating from non-vocational courses often embark on further study or require a period of non-graduate level employment in order to gain work experience in a particular graduate profession, for example, psychology, media or art and design.
  • Changes to the political and economic climates may mean that prospective or current students may graduate into a very different recruitment environment.
  • For courses in areas such as engineering and business, the vast majority of those in the 'Work and Study' category are in full-time work and studying for professional qualifications.

If you have queries about the data, please contact Susie Brown, Graduate Destinations Manager S.M.N.Brown@lboro.ac.uk.
