School of Business and Economics

Careers Consultant - International Students

Responsibilities

Having joined the Careers Network team in October 2017, Nilesh is the Careers Consultant for the School of Business and Economics undergraduates and leads the careers and employability provision for international students.

Prior to working at Loughborough, Nilesh managed and led the Careers Information, Advice and Guidance provision for University of Leicester, leading on various projects of strategic importance including the management of staff development to provide quality one to one provision to support students in their career planning and to compete for graduate opportunities. Whilst working at Leicester Nilesh also managed the newly formed Student Service Centre and managed a team of careers professionals. Prior to working at Leicester, Nilesh worked for the National Careers Service supporting and developing people to achieve their career goals.

Korin has responsibility for supporting postgraduate students in the School of Business and Economic and students studying on the MBA programme.

Having joined the Careers Network team in January 2015, Will is responsible for students at the Design School and on the School of the Arts, English & Drama programmes. In addition Will manages links with Enterprise in the University and is involved in the management of the Careers Network social networking strategy.

Prior to working at Loughborough, Will worked as Director of Programming at IdeasTap, Alumni and Industry Relations Officer at East 15 Acting School (part of the University of Essex), Client Relations Manager at Spotlight and a casting director for feature films and television (The Descent, Severance, The Last Enemy).

Will is currently studying for the HE Cert. in Counselling at University of Leicester and is due to begin study for the PG Dip in Careers Education, Information and Guidance in HE.

Careers Consultant

Ruth has shared responsibility for supporting students on programmes within the various Engineering departments and schools. She has particular responsibility for organising and co-ordinating the centrally run Direct Your Career skills programme of presentations and workshops.

Ruth joined the Careers Network team from the Wolfson School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering where she was Industrial Placement Co-ordinator and IMechE Administrator. Prior to joining the Wolfson School, she was Administrator of a national children's charity and spent 10 years working in the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Joss shares responsibility for undergraduate students in various Engineering departments and schools.

Joss joined the Careers Network team in September 2007 to work on employability projects including the Employer Mentoring Scheme, Loughborough Employability Award and Workshadow Scheme.  She is now a careers consultant and also manages the Award. Joss came from an industry background having spent a number of years as a manager in a software company where she had responsibility for both graduate & experienced recruitment.  She also managed the career development of employees.

Careers Consultant

Deborah has responsibility for students from Geography, Social Sciences, Politics, History and International Relations programmes.

Deborah joined the Careers Network team in December 2014 from her role as a Careers Adviser at the University of Nottingham for almost eight years, with a varied caseload comprising predominantly of STEM subjects.  She qualified as a Careers Adviser in 2000 and initially worked with young people in school and community settings. Deborah is also a qualified teacher, having taught at secondary level and, prior to that, worked predominantly in the public sector.

Gill is the lead careers consultant for SSEHS and has shared responsibility (with Sally Western) for supporting students studying in the Schools of Science and Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences.

She joined the Careers Network team in 2002 with extensive experience of careers work with university students and graduates, young people in schools and adult career changers. Her work as a careers adviser since 1994 has involved posts at three different universities and a contribution to the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), which has developed her expertise in administration, information, training and writing. She currently oversees visual identity and editorial for student publications and the Careers Network website and joined the Management Team in 2015.

Sally is the lead careers consultant for SCIENCE and has shared responsibility (with Gill Clarke) for supporting students studying the Schools of Science and Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences.

Joining the Careers Network team in August 2002 as a Careers Adviser for Mathematical Sciences, the Business School and Chemistry, Sally has also worked on employability projects such as mentoring, workshadowing and the Loughborough Employability Award.

Prior to working at Loughborough, Sally was a Human Resources Manager at United Biscuits and Xerox and an Assistant Manager for Finance and Personnel at Marks and Spencer. 

 

 

Research Staff and Students

Careers Consultant

As a Careers Consultant, Eve supports the career development of postgraduate research students and research staff across the University.

She works closely with the Graduate School, Research Office and professional development support staff throughout the university to provide career development initiatives and resources.  The career development programme includes one to one consultations, a range of career development workshops and tailored events such as those which bring together employers and students and occupationally themed sessions.

Eve brings experience from working in education and various industry sectors.  Prior to joining Loughborough University she supported researcher development at the universities of Warwick and Nottingham, both in research and project management roles.


 

London Campus

Careers Consultant - Loughborough University London

Responsibilities

Caseload:

  • London campus postgraduate students

Laura is a professionally qualified career consultant with over 30 years of experience of working with university students, graduates, adults and school leavers.  Part of the university’s Careers Network team, but based full time at Loughborough University London, she provides career guidance, coaching and information to students, staff and graduates.

Laura joined us from City University London but has worked in other institutions providing support to students and graduates looking for work in areas including management, media, business, finance, law, engineering, technology and the arts. She has also worked in HR and recruitment in the private sector. 

Her professional interests include writing information and learning materials relating to careers and employability and the use of psychometric assessment for career planning and in job selection.
