International exchanges and study abroad

We offer International exchange and study abroad students the opportunity to apply for a place in University halls of residence.

If you are coming to Loughborough in September for one semester or a full year you will be able to apply online for accommodation in June, once your place is confirmed.

Please note that any applications received after 31 July will only be considered subject to availability.

Those coming for semester two only, will be able to apply from 22 November 2023. Offers of accommodation will be made subject to availability from December.  Contracts will commence from Sunday 4 February 2024.

Halls accommodation is not guaranteed, however, we promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on-campus or by referral to an approved off-campus provider.

Applying for accommodation

Step 1 - Register and research your options

Take a look at our halls of residence and the type of accommodation available for you.

You can browse our halls and find out which halls are available for exchange and study abroad students.

When you make an application, we will be asking you for your preferences so make sure you have an idea of what you are looking for but don't limit yourself to one choice. All our halls offer a great environment to study and have a strong community spirit.

From mid-May you will be able to register on the Accommodation Hub. Our online reservation system will guide you through the short registration process and when this is complete you will receive a confirmation email.

When you are eligible to make an application, you will be able to reserve your accommodation online from a live list of available accommodation.

Step 2 – Application

Once you have registered your account you will be able to log in to the Accommodation Hub and select accommodation preferences online.

You will be able to select up to five hall preferences which will be used as a guide when looking to allocate you a room, but we cannot guarantee that you will be offered one of your preferred rooms. Accommodation is allocated based on availability and the preferences you select.

Once we have allocated you a room, you will receive an email confirming your offer. Offers are subject to availability.

Please make sure you check the email address you used on your accommodation application so you do not miss out on your accommodation offer.

You will have five days from when the offer is made to accept your contract.

Step 3 – Accommodation Contract

In order to accept the contract online, you will be required to enter your accommodation username and password. You will be entering into a legally binding agreement with the University, your landlord.

Prior to arrival, we will contact you to complete our online Living in Halls induction and book an arrival slot.

Please contact the Student Accommodation Centre if you experience problems applying for your accommodation.
