General information

Named after Dr Harry French, an engineer/physicist, Senior Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council 1981-1986. Situated on a split site, on either side of Ashby Road, just 200 metres from campus. Harry French is a relaxed and friendly close-knit community, set in gardens and ideally situated for students who want to be near both town and campus.

It might be just off-campus but when we pull together as a hall you just don’t want to live anywhere else.

• Lodges - 8 bedrooms arranged around a central corridor, sharing kitchen facilities and 2 toilets and showers
• West Grove - 6-7 bedrooms arranged around a central corridor, sharing kitchen facilities and 2 toilets and showers. Plus 4 studio flats.
• Remainder of accommodation is in converted Victorian houses - traditional rooms in 1-2 bed flats with kitchen and bathroom
• Courtyard and West Grove have 4ft beds (double bedding recommended), excluding studio flats
• Postgraduates are located in Iffley, Tynte and Redholme Houses and part of East Grove - traditional rooms in 1-2 bedroom flats with kitchen and bathroom
• Pillows not supplied
• Weekly cleaning in stairwell corridors, common rooms and communal areas of shared flats
• Large common/games room - freeview, TV, table tennis/football, darts and more (facilities subject to change)
• The University network and internet access is via a wired socket only. Freewire TV is only available by wired socket.
