We will confirm whether you meet the entry requirements for the pre-sessional programme. If you do, we will ask you to confirm that you wish to apply for the pre-sessional course by asking you to pay a £200 (non-refundable) deposit.
The deposit (and course fees) must be paid in £ sterling. The deposit is required to secure a place on the course and to cover administration costs.
*This deposit is non-refundable unless you cancel within 14 days of making payment.
We will notify the Loughborough University Admissions Team to produce a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
The University Admissions Team will email your CAS to you. You will need your CAS to apply for a visa. Please ensure you have completed and returned all documentation requested by the relevant admissions team.
We strongly recommend you secure your visa before you make payment for tuition fees or accommodation. Please note that you will only be able to start your pre-sessional course with us if you hold a suitable visa. If you currently hold a Tier 4 student visa for another sponsor, you will not be allowed to register on the pre-sessional course until you can prove that you have made an application for a new Tier 4 student visa using a CAS issued by Loughborough University. Further information is available on the Student Advice and Support Service website.
You can pay online from 4 weeks prior to your arrival. Please ensure you have paid the remaining balance 2 weeks before the start of your course to minimise waiting time at registration. Pay online now »
Course registration takes place on the first day of the course.
You must be able to attend the entire pre-sessional course in order to meet the conditions of your offer at the university and the conditions of your visa.
Students attending Pre-sessional Course A (30 week course) and B (20 week course) are required to take IELTS tests in May and June and must meet a minimum standard* to be permitted to continue with their English language studies on Pre-sessional Course C. All students are assessed by tests and coursework at the end of Pre-sessional Courses C and D. Students who fail to engage appropriately with the Pre-sessional course will not be considered to have successfully completed the pre-sessional course and therefore will not have met the conditions of their offer from the University. Students whose level of English language is considered to be below the minimum level required by Loughborough University will not be permitted to progress on to their degree.
*Please note the minimum IELTS score required to progress on to Pre-sessional Course C is usually 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in all subtests). However, higher scores are required for some courses. Please check the English language requirements for your academic programme.
You're all set! Please ensure you do all you can to prepare yourself for the start of your academic programme. There is a range of English language and study skills support available to you throughout your studies at Loughborough University or in Loughborough University London.
