Accommodation for new students for 2018 entry

Please refer to the information below relevant to your circumstances.

Undergraduate students and Foundation Art & Design students still awaiting an offer

We are currently in the process of offering accommodation to insurance and Foundation Art and Design students.

We do appreciate that this is a stressful time for both students and parents and will endeavour to keep students updated on the current situation.  We are working hard to ensure that all students are allocated a room as soon as possible.

We are still in the process of allocating rooms to first year students and will continue to offer rooms any time up to arrival week. If we are unable to offer you a permanent room in University Halls by Friday 14 September, we will offer you temporary University accommodation with a guarantee of a room in University hall accommodation as vacancies arise.  Every year we have a number of students that either do not arrive or withdraw from hall places for a variety of reasons. Students placed in temporary accommodation will be relocated as soon as we have identified vacancies in hall.

We confirm that there will be no requirement to refer any first year student to an off campus approved provider.

Any student allocated into temporary accommodation will be asked to arrive on Thursday 27 September 2018, therefore if you need to plan your arrival day before our room offer on 14 September, you should plan to arrive on 27 September.

We will contact you by 4 pm on Friday 14 September with an offer of either permanent accommodation or further details of your temporary room offer including which hall you will be affiliated to during your stay in temporary accommodation.

In order for you to fully experience Loughborough Freshers, you will be associated to a specific hall along with the other students residing with you in temporary accommodation. We are unable to advise you exactly where you will be located until the temporary accommodation has been allocated.

If you no longer require hall accommodation, please let us know so that we can cancel your application.

Erasmus / Exchange and direct entry students still awaiting an offer

One Semester students:  As advised, currently all designated rooms reserved for your course in University Halls have been offered, however we appreciate that it is difficult to find accommodation for One Semester only; therefore we will prioritise you for a room in University allocated accommodation.

As you are coming to Loughborough as a One Semester exchange student, halls accommodation is not guaranteed, however you do have our promise to help you secure accommodation.

We appreciate that you may be getting anxious about your application, please be assured that we are working hard to ensure that all students are allocated a room as soon as possible.  We will email you with further details on your accommodation options by 16:00 on Friday 14 September.

If you no longer require hall accommodation, please let us know so that we can cancel your application.

Full Year students:  As advised, currently all designated rooms reserved for your course have been offered, however we may be able to offer you a temporary room in University owned accommodation with a guarantee of a room in University hall accommodation as vacancies arise.

We will email you with further details on your accommodation options by 16:00 on Friday 14 September

If you no longer require hall accommodation, please let us know so that we can cancel your application.

Postgraduate Taught or Research students

As advised, all of our Postgraduate accommodation on campus has currently been offered.  However we are very committed to assisting all students to obtain accommodation in Loughborough. Although available rooms will now be very limited, we will be offering rooms to postgraduate students any time up to arrival week.

In order to identify suitable accommodation options for you, please email sac@lboro.ac.uk by 14:00 on Thursday 13 September 2018 to confirm that you still require accommodation.

If we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume that you have found alternative accommodation or are no longer coming to Loughborough and cancel your application.

First Year students who have accepted a room

Now that you have successfully reserved a room in University Halls, you are able to complete your post contractual requirements.

Please log into your account to:

  • Complete our online Living in Halls Induction and book your Arrival Slot.
  • Pay the required room bond of £140.  Room Bonds can be paid online using your University Student ID number.

You will be sent a verification email for each process once they have been successfully completed.  Both requirements must be completed prior to arrival in order to collect your keys and occupy your room.

Important information: once you have registered at Loughborough - all emails will be sent to your Loughborough student email account.

Please note:

All First Year Students: In order to take part in Fresher activities, you are expected to arrive between Tuesday 25 September and Thursday 27 September (depending on your Hall).  Please book your arrival slot for your anticipated time of arrival at Loughborough on your Halls arrival day (your Licence commencement date).  Please aim to arrive prior to 15:00 in order to attend your Hall Welcome event.

If you will be arriving later than your hall arrival day, please book a slot on your actual arrival date so that we ensure your room is held for you - rooms will not be held for arrivals after 30 September unless agreed in advance (under exceptional circumstances only).

First Year International students only: If you have booked a flight which is due to arrive one day earlier than your 'designated arrival day', please contact us with your flight number and arrival airport - you will be charged an additional £20 early arrival fee.  If you will be arriving in the UK earlier, please arrange alternative temporary accommodation.
