EAP in the East Midlands
The English Language Support Service invited fellow EAP practitioners to this event in the regional professional development series on the 14th December:
“EAP Teaching and the BALEAP Competencies Framework”
The event aimed to generate a sharing of experience, ideas, and critical discussion based around implications of integrating into practice BALEAP’s Competencies Framework for Teachers of English for Academic Purposes.
The EAP team at Loughborough University presented aspects of its own recent experience in bringing the TEAP CF more to the fore, particularly via pre-sessional teacher induction and teaching observation.
The evening finished with a lively discussion on several areas related to the TEAP Competencies Framework, including:
- experiences that colleagues have had of adopting the TEAP CF
- implications for EAP practitioner professional development
- the relevance of the TEAP CF for practitioners of all levels
- further ideas for integrating the TEAP CF
