The English Language Support Service helps students to succeed on their academic programmes at Loughborough by fostering the development of their English language and study skills through a range of pre-sessional and in-sessional courses.
Our courses
We offer a range of pre-sessional and in-sessional courses and workshops designed to help students improve their English language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and to provide detailed training in the conventions of academic writing; understanding lectures, academic books and journals; taking effective notes; writing up research; avoiding plagiarism; taking part in academic discussions and giving presentations, and other study skills. One to One Tutorials
If there are students in your department who are struggling with English language problems, you may wish to refer them to the ELSS for individual tutorials. These one to one appointments are currently free of charge, subject to availability. Students should contact the Student Support Centre to book an appointment.
