Development for your role

Information for technical staff

Introduction

The Technicians Training Officer, Chris Harris, ensures that you are informed of upcoming training that will help you do your job more effectively and keep you up-to-date with specialist knowledge or new health and safety information.

There is also a small budget set aside for your development, that can fund your place at relevant external training that it is not cost effective, or possible to provide in-house.

Requests for technician training should be submitted to Chris Harris, ext 227608.

Chris will gladly provide help and advice with regard to training requests. Training courses that cater for transferable skills (ie. those which are not departmental specific or specialised) or supplement the technician's ability to carry out their function will be wholly funded from the Technician Training Budget (TTB). Specialist training should be funded by the technician's own Faculty, Department or Section. However, there may be scope in certain circumstances for a contribution to made from the TTB.

If in doubt then please contact Chris to discuss.

List of available training courses for Technicians

The following lists training courses attended by Loughborough University Technicians in recent years. However, the list is not exhaustive. If you have specific training needs that are not covered here, then please do not hesitate to contact Chris Harris and he'll be happy to help. As a general guide, the Staff Development Technicians Training budget will fully fund 'transferable skills and Health and Safety' related training. More specialised or departmental specific training will be subject to negotiation and may attract partial funding from the training budget.
