Management and leadership development
In the Universities strategic plan "Towards 2016" it clearly states that there will be an effective training and support framework, to include:
'A formal structured and sustained programme of training and ongoing support for our leaders and managers across the University'.
Management & leadership development is a term that describes any number of activities that reflect a planned effort to enhance employees’ ability in various individual and team management techniques. Very simply put, management development includes development of skills such as planning, organising, leading and developing resources. A key skill for any employees is the ability to manage their own work and control their career path. Highly motivated and self-directed individuals can gain a massive amount of learning and other benefits that will then in turn benefit many aspects of the wider University.
Nurturing in-house management talent is one of the most important aspects of the development of any organisation. For this reason a variety of workshops have already been developed and many more programmes are currently under development.
