It's a Girl Documentary Screening
11 June 2013 - 6:30pm
The Department of Politics, History and International Relations is hosting a screening of the harrowing 'infanticide' documentary film, It's a Girl.
In India and China, where sons are valued and daughters are burdens, millions of babies are killed, abandoned or selectively aborted, simply because they are girls.
The result of longstanding traditions and governmental policies, this devaluation of females has led to rampant violence against women and a growing female'gendercide'.
The documentary is widely acclaimed and is generating much discussion where it is shown. The evening will consist of the screening of the documentary at 6:30pm, followed by further discussion with a panel of experts from various Universities, including Edinburgh University and the University of Bristol.
