Loughborough Football will play a 'Tottenham Hotspur Under 20 XI' in the opening fixture in the brand new stadium at Holywell Park on Friday 4th May 2012.

The game is part of a series of celebratory fixtures to open the 3,000 capacity development that has been built to create a permanent home for the club at the University, and provide changing facilities for the Holywell Park pitches at the West end of campus.

Former England striker and Tottenham Hotspur Assistant Coach Clive Allen commented:

“We are delighted to be invited to play in the exhibition match against Loughborough to help celebrate the launch of the new stadium. It really is a fantastic facility and we are very much looking forward to the evening.

“We will be bringing a side with some of our brightest prospects. It promises to be a great night.”

Loughborough are currently doing extremely well in the Midland Alliance and are also through to the League Cup semi-final.

In the University BUCS competition they have also reached the semi-final stage of the Championship and will hopefully have some silverware on display at the launch game.

Stuart McLaren, Head Coach of Loughborough Football, said,

“It is a fantastic way to open the stadium against one of the top clubs in the Premier League. We are grateful to Tottenham for agreeing to bring up an U20 XI for the showpiece event.

“It really is an exciting time for the club and we are expecting the launch of our new stadium to be a special occasion.”

Tickets for the match are scheduled to go on sale on Thursday 12th April 2012.
