Family fun on offer at Loughborough University’s Science and Engineering Fair

Find out how to spot a fake bank note, help create a giant mural and gain a fascinating insight into life as a Paralympics swimming coach at a special families event taking place at Loughborough University.

The Science and Engineering Fair is being held on Saturday 10 March, as part of the University’s programme of activities for National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW).  The week aims to celebrate science and engineering and their importance to our lives, giving people the chance to participate in science and engineering activities and experiments, and to engage in related discussions in their local area.

At the fair, which is free to attend, there will be fun and informative activities for all the family to take part in.  One of the highlights will be a guest lecture by Jill Stidever, an experienced Paralympics swimming coach.  With 2012 being such an important year for British Olympic Sport, this lecture will offer an interesting behind the scenes view of team coaching.

Event coordinator Jackie Baseley said: “We are really excited to be holding the Science and Engineering Fair as part of NSEW celebrations at Loughborough.  This is a new addition to our programme, aimed specifically at families with activities to suit people of all ages.  Come along and join in the fun!”

The Science and Engineering Fair is taking place between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday 10 March at the University’s Edward Herbert Building.  The event is free to attend and booking is not required.
