LUCRED logo

A National conference exploring eating disorders in sport will be taking place at Loughborough University later this month.

The Beat Disordered Eating in Sport and Fitness conference is the first event of its kind to be held in the UK. Taking place on 27 September, it is being jointly hosted by Beat, the UK’s leading eating disorders charity and the Loughborough University Centre for Research into Eating Disorders (LUCRED).

The conference will examine disordered eating, its signs and symptoms, pathways to treatment, and give delegates the opportunity to consider this increasingly complex area of sport and fitness in collaborative situations. The day will include presentations from academics and clinicians. It will also feature Dame Kelly Holmes who will interview Olympic Triathlete Hollie Avil about her challenges in overcoming an eating disorder.

The day is open to sports and fitness professionals, teachers (particularly in PE), coaches, trainers and mentors, gym and fitness staff and customers, dancers and dance teachers, clinicians interested in eating disorders and disordered eating in sport and fitness.

This conference costs £175 for professionals and £150 for Carers, Students and Professional Network Members, and includes lunch, refreshments, a full delegate pack and conference materials.
