Commonwealth gold medallist Louise Hazel is the second major athlete to declare she will compete at the Loughborough Athletics Permit meet (LEAP) on Saturday July 7.

The 26-year-old heptathlete, who won gold for England at the Commonwealth Games in India in 2010 with a personal best of 6156 points, will compete in the long jump and javelin at Loughborough University’s Paula Radcliffe stadium.

Jessica Ennis, the golden girl of British athletics, has already said she will compete in the javelin, long jump and hurdles in the event, her last before she attempts to win the gold medal for Team GB in the heptathlon at the London 2012 Olympics

Louise, from London, has competed in four major international championships and in 2009 she was ranked second best in the country.

LEAP is expected to attract between 300 and 400 athletes, and more big names could opt to compete now the Olympic trials in Birmingham are out of the way.

The University expects many athletes from across Europe to compete, and there could be others from the American, Australian and Jamaican Olympic teams who are all based in the UK.

There are 1,500 tickets available and cost £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £20 for a family ticket (two adults and two children). Tickets for staff and students cost £5.

Tickets are now on sale and for security reasons must be purchased from ticketline.co.uk. Click on this link to buy tickets. Tickets are available online here.
