The community groups receiving awards were presented with their cheques by Caroline Walker, the University’s Interim Chief Operating Officer at an awards ceremony held at Loughborough Town Hall.

Jon Walker, Director of External Affairs at the University is Chair of the panel that considered the bids.  He comments: “We have been able to help over 80 community groups since we launched the Donations Fund.  The range of projects we have supported is staggering and indicates the huge amount of effort that takes place in community groups, often without acknowledgement.  The University is delighted to help these groups in the work they do.”

Over the summer the University will be awarding a further £5k from the Donations Fund.  This will be allocated specifically to community projects members of staff are involved in.  Funding arrangements for the 2011/12 academic year will also be announced over the summer.
