New research centre to launch at University sustainability event

A new research centre which examines how businesses can continue to thrive despite adversity will be launched at a Loughborough University event next month.

The new Centre for Organisational Resilience (COR) – based at the University’s School of Business and Economics – will research sustainable systems that help organisations innovate and adapt to complex new challenges.

The new centre is being launched at an event which focuses on the many ways that sustainability affects the world of business and commerce.  Business leaders and experts from across the University will be sharing their knowledge at Profit from Sustainability, which takes place on Friday, July 15.

The event will include presentations by Coca Cola, E.ON, Manchester Airports Group, Santander and Loughborough University’s leading researchers.

One of these workshops will be run by Dr Samir Dani and Professor Kevin Daniels, leader of the Centre for Organisational Resilience, who will be outlining the new centre’s holistic approach to organisational resilience.

Event organiser Dr Kelly Manders said: “The new centre is just one of the ways in which the sustainability challenge is being met by University research.

“In today’s challenging economic climate, sustainability is at the heart of every successful business.

“With a stimulating and diverse programme of workshops and excellent networking opportunities, Profit from Sustainability will appeal to senior decision-makers and opinion leaders in organisations from all sectors.’’

Profit from Sustainability takes place at Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

They will also be able to view first hand award-winning Pavegen technology developed by Loughborough graduate Laurence Kemball-Cook. The pioneering flooring product converts kinetic energy from footsteps into electricity to power street lighting, advertising and information displays.
