Working cancer patients needed to take part in Macmillan study

A Loughborough University study looking into work related issues for those diagnosed with cancer is appealing for volunteers to come forward to help pilot a new work guidance tool.

The study is being carried out on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support by researchers in Loughborough University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences in partnership with the Affinity Health at Work Consultancies, based in London.

The tool, developed on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, can be used by cancer patients to get information on any potential work- related issues that they may encounter due to their diagnosis.

Lead researchers Dr Fehmidah Munir and Dr Debbie Wallis explain: “The study will involve using the guidance tool over a six week period as and when needed.  After this time volunteers will feed back to the team how useful it has been.”

“We need volunteers between the ages of 18 and 65, who have recently been diagnosed with cancer or who are on sick leave or about to return to work.”

All participants will receive a summary of the research findings.

For further details or to register your interest in participating in the pilot, please contact Dr Katryna Kalawsky on 01509 228151 or email: k.e.a.kalawsky@lboro.ac.uk
