Loughborough pair named in international paper for export expertise

Two academics from Loughborough University’s Business School have been recognised as world leaders in research into export business and marketing.

Professor of International Marketing Anne Souchon and Professor of Marketing John Cadogan have both been named in a Journal of International Management paper which reviews five decades of business research into exporting.

The pair were included in a power list of the most prolific authors of exporting articles published since 1960 – Professor Souchon ranking 15th in the world and Professor Cadogan coming in 26th.

The article reports the findings of a study which provides a systematic analysis of the content of 821 export business-related articles published in 75 academic journals during the period 1960–2007.

Loughborough is one of just two universities to have more than one academic included in the list - Cadogan and Souchon having published 16 articles on this topic between them, ahead of Cardiff’s 15.

Professor Souchon, who researches the performance implications of different export decision-making types throughout the world, is delighted to be named in the journal.

“It’s fantastic to be recognised in this paper, it’s always nice to have a pat on the back,” she said. “For the University to also be recognised for its export research is really positive.

“We’ve recently strengthened our research team in this area and hope to continue to develop our position as a centre of excellence for exporting research.”

Professor Cadogan is also to receive special recognition from the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences for going above and beyond the call of duty as a reviewer.
