Pink ladies pedal for Breast Cancer Campaign

Pink Ladies

The University ladies pedalled their way to £2,200 for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Eight ladies from Loughborough University have successfully taken part in the Pedal it Pink challenge, raising over £2,000 for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The cycling event was held on Sunday October 17 at the National Water Sport Centre in Nottingham. The challenge was to cycle 26.2 miles, the same distance as a marathon.

The ladies, who all work for the University’s student residential and catering department imago, came together at the request of Michelle Cunningham.  “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and we also have a colleague who was diagnosed with breast cancer this year so when I saw this opportunity I thought it would be very worthwhile.

“We take part in the annual Wear It Pink day to support the cause but undertaking this challenge was going one step further and I would like to thank all the ladies who volunteered to take part and all those who have sponsored us. The bike ride took between one hour and 40 minutes and two hours 40 minutes, but we all completed the challenge.”

Some of the ladies bikes for the event were generously lent free of charge and serviced by Glenn Coltman of Pedal Power and cogz, the University’s campus based bike shop.

Altogether 350 people took part in the event with the Loughborough ladies raising £2,200 between them for the Charity.
