Loughborough University remains in UK Top 20

Loughborough University is ‘unquestionably one of the leading universities in Britain’ states The Sunday Times University Guide 2011 which was released at the weekend (12 September).

In this year’s overall league table, Loughborough has been placed at 16 in the UK with the student satisfaction levels coming only second to Oxford.

The 13th edition of the Sunday Times University Guide provides profiles of all the UK’s higher education institutions, and a league table compiled using eight criteria – student satisfaction, research quality, academic peer review, entrance qualifications, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, graduate employment levels and university dropout rates.

Professor Shirley Pearce, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, comments: “To be consistently ranked in the UK’s top 20 universities is a great achievement, which recognises the fantastic work being done here at Loughborough University and this success is a consequence of the commitment to excellence right across the campus. The Sunday Times recognises the applied research being carried out here as well as stating our sporting facilities are ‘the best in Europe and arguably unrivalled worldwide’.”

In addition Loughborough University was also highlighted as having just a four per cent dropout rate compared with the benchmark of 12 per cent.
