Biggest-ever art and design degree show in Centenary year
This year’s Loughborough University Art and Design degree show promises to be one of the biggest ever, with the work of around 500 final year students on display.
Beautiful illustrations, stunning sculptures and exquisite jewellery
will be among the hundreds of pieces exhibited from 13 to 18 June. The
annual show covers a whole host of artistic genres, including furniture,
painting, film, graphic design, animation and textiles.
The work of many of the School’s award winning students will be on display, including that of Ben Cohen – who last year exhibited John, his portrait of a Loughborough bookshop worker, at the National Portrait Gallery – and Simon Yewdall, whose Yes We Can artwork, representing the election of Barack Obama, won a national competition run by The Sunday Times’ Style magazine.
“This year’s exhibition is particularly special for us, as we’re celebrating one hundred years of education in Loughborough, of which the School and before that the College of Art and Design have been a significant part,” says Professor Marsha Meskimmon, director of LUSAD.
“I’d wholeheartedly encourage everyone to come along and see the outstanding work on display at our degree show. You can’t help but admire the students’ talent and be impressed by their professional approach to art and design.
The show – which takes place at the School of Art and Design, off Epinal Way – is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, and from 10am to 5pm from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 June inclusive. Admission is free and advance booking is not required.
