New Dean of the Business School and Economics appointed

Angus Laing.

Angus Laing has been appointed to the new position of Dean of the Business School and Economics at Loughborough University.

As Dean he will lead the implementation of an ambitious strategy to further enhance the national and international profile of the Business School and Economics and strengthen their position as leaders in their field.

Angus is currently Professor of Management and Head of School of the University of Glasgow Business School, and has previously held the Beneficial Bank Chair of Marketing at the Open University Business School where he was Director of Research.

At Glasgow he played a leading role in securing accreditation by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the School, developing a network of international partnerships, and building links with communities of practice.

His research interests centre on the consumption and delivery of professional services in contemporary societies.

Commenting on his new appointment, Angus said: “The Business School and Economics have been at the heart of Loughborough University for many years. I am delighted to have been invited to lead the further development of these key parts of the University’s portfolio.

“I am very much looking forward to working with new colleagues and exploring how we can together take forward the University’s ambitions in this area.”

Angus will take up his new position at Loughborough with effect from 1 March 2010.
