Transport iNET appoints new Director

The Transport Innovation Network (iNet), based at Loughborough University, has appointed Chartered Engineer John Frodsham as its new Director, from October 2009.

John joins the team from Stadco Ltd where he spent four years as Engineering Sales and Commercial Manager. He brings with him over 20 years experience in professional engineering and business development.

John has built his expertise through roles at LINPAC Automotive Ltd, MSC Software Ltd and the Rover Group among others. His knowledge and skills cut across several transport sectors, covering high technology engineering, prototyping and low volume manufacture, bid development and project delivery for global manufactures as well as niche producers. Previous projects include a proof of concept study for an electric drive vehicle conversion programme, developing business relationships in India and Europe with original equipment manufacturers and winning rail rolling stock development projects.

John said: “I relish the challenge and opportunities the Transport iNet presents, particularly in these difficult times. I am keen to bring my product development experience and industry knowledge to support our team of innovation advisers and build on the great work they are doing, providing consultancy and access to funding.

“Working to meet the diverse innovation needs of Aerospace, Automotive, Marine, Motorsport and Rail industry supply chains is already enabling a range of opportunities for SME businesses and University collaborations to be exploited. The iNet is committed to helping businesses in the East Midlands to innovate – keeping the region at the forefront of manufacturing and engineering across all transport sectors.”

Located at the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) at Loughborough University, The Transport iNet is funded by East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The aim of Transport iNet is to increase the level of innovation in the East Midlands helping to improve business competitiveness, margins, sustainability and growth. It allows individual sectors to work together, share ideas, technologies, intelligence, innovation and create a link between industry supply chains and the academic community.
