Britain’s top ranked wheelchair tennis player among those to be honoured by Loughborough

At Loughborough University’s winter graduation ceremonies, which will take place on Monday 17 December, honorary degrees will be conferred upon three distinguished people in recognition of the outstanding contributions they have made to industry, education, sport and society.

Great Britain Paralympic wheelchair tennis player Jayant Mistry will be presented with the award of Honorary Doctor of the University (Hon DUniv), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to wheelchair tennis, Paralympic sport and as an inspiration to the local Loughborough community.

Master Craftsman Rob Armstrong will receive the award of Honorary Doctor of Technology (Hon DTech), for his outstanding contribution to guitar design and craftsmanship.

Professor Doug Taylor – Visiting Professor in Thermofluids – will receive the award of Honorary Doctor of Technology (Hon DTech), in recognition of his outstanding achievements as an engineer and as a leader of industry.

At the congregations two members of the University will also be awarded the Loughborough University Medal. Dr Roy Frost, Senior Planning Officer, and Cllr Peter Lewis, former lecturer in the Department of English and Drama, will both be presented with their medals at the morning ceremony. The Loughborough University Medal was developed to mark service for and on behalf of the University, and allows the unrecognised contributions made to University life to be acknowledged.
