Open day aims to encourage mature students to consider university

An open day to help potential mature students find out more about studying for a degree is being held at Loughborough University on Wednesday 7 November.

Mature students are those aged 21 or over when they start university. The Open Day will provide anyone interested in higher education with the opportunity to look around the University campus, meet current students and staff, and find out about the courses on offer.

Kay Bridger, one of the University’s Widening Participation Officers, says considering whether to return to education can be a big decision.

“Potential mature students tend to have very different concerns or queries about university than other undergraduates. They often have to consider how their return to education could impact on their family and their financial situation,” Kay explains.

The Open Day will provide potential students with the chance to find out about a range of topics, such as likely entry requirements, how to apply, how the teaching is structured, and the kinds of, especially financial, support available.

Anyone interested in attending the Open Day, which is running from 10am to 2pm, should contact Kay Bridger to book a place, Tel: 01509 222486 or Email: K.M.Bridger@lboro.ac.uk
