Loughborough to hold information seminar on workplace wellbeing programme

Loughborough University’s Lifestyle Service is to host a free information evening about their new corporate wellbeing programme after a successful trial at data acquisition instrument manufacturer Campbell Scientific Ltd.

The programme, designed by the University’s Sports Science manager Rhona Blair and Lifestyle Advisor Beth Hanson, is aimed at helping companies improve the health of their workers and consequently reduce the billions of pounds lost each year through employee absenteeism.

“The aim of the information evening on September 20 is to ensure that workplaces, which may be looking at introducing a wellbeing programme, have the best possible information to aid in their decision making,” said Blair.

“We have been developing our corporate wellbeing programme at the University since last December and had a very successful introduction of it at Campbell Scientific, who were very pleased with the service and the results.”

The Lifestyle Service conducted tests on Campbell Scientific’s employees to discover their body composition, blood pressure, cholesterol profile, blood glucose level, lung function, and cardiac risk score and sought details for a physical activity and nutritional analysis.

The employees also attended a workshop designed to supplement their knowledge of healthy eating and active lifestyles.

“The team from the Loughborough Lifestyle Service were fantastic; well informed, organised and professional, ensuring the day passed without a hitch and with minimal disruption to normal work routines,” said Campbell Scientific managing director Dick Saffell.

“I am certain that everybody who attended came away with something positive from the programme.”

The corporate wellbeing programme is part of a wider package of services developed by the Sports Science Service at Loughborough University, which includes a full range of health assessments, audits and workshops for individuals as well as corporate clients.
