New location for ECI Benelux

The Benelux regional unit of the European Construction Institute (ECI) has a new base at the Technical University (TU) in Delft.

ECI is Europe’s only transnational learning and improvement network covering the entire project implementation supply chain. Established in 1990, it brings together experienced professionals from over 60 private and public sector organisations representing the whole spectrum of the construction industry. With both its headquarters and UK base at Loughborough University, it also has operations in Italy and Benelux.

ECI Benelux moved from Erasmus University in Rotterdam to Delft earlier this month. The relocation followed the retirement of Professor Rodney Turner of Erasmus, ECI Benelux’ former Director of Operations.

Sir Michael Latham, ECI’s President, said: “This move is a visible demonstration of ECI’s position at the forefront of construction improvement in Europe.  Our reputation is built on the excellence of our output.  Delft, as one of Europe’s pre-eminent technical universities, will add greatly to the resources on which we can draw.”

ECI Benelux Chairman, Rick Donehoo of Fluor BV, added: “TU Delft is an ideal academic partner for ECI Benelux, capable of producing the synergy with the industry for which ECI is already well-known. Its exciting work with engineering and construction has contributed to its excellent reputation and high esteem within the industry. This should help to make ECI Benelux a more progressive and active organisation in the future, which is bound to be of benefit to the European construction industry as a whole.”
