Preparations well underway for Loughborough international athletics match

Tickets are now on sale for the Loughborough International Athletics Match, sponsored by accenture – the traditional curtain raiser to the outdoor athletics season.

The meeting, being held at Loughborough University on Sunday 22 May, will bring together teams representing Loughborough Students past and present, GB Under 20s, British Universities, England, Scotland and Wales.

Last year’s match showcased some of the country’s leading athletes in their build up to Athens 2004, including Denise Lewis, Diane Allahgreen, Helen Karagounis, Ricky Soos and Goldie Sayers.

George Gandy, Loughborough’s director of athletics and the meeting director, said: “I am delighted that Loughborough, in our 49th annual staging of this meeting, will once again be hosts to some of the most outstanding British athletics talent. Full England, Scotland and Wales teams are especially welcome, as they commence their build-ups for the next Commonwealth Games in March 2006.”

Tickets for the Loughborough International Athletics Match can be purchased from Loughborough Students’ Union shop, Loughborough EIS swimming pool reception, Loughborough University Fitness Suite (LUFS), the High Performance Athletics Centre (HiPAC) and the Loughborough EIS Performance Centre reception.
