Learning with technology

Learning technology increased the flexibility of learning by making new materials available on 24-hour demand, thereby releasing staff time which can be spent on research or developing higher quality contact with students. CAL has been shown to increase students' motivation, with more effort and deeper immersion in the learning materials. This is providing a higher quality learning experience. Student access to learning materials on the central LT server have doubled in the past 12 months.

The types of program written for HE teaching are limited only by the author’s imagination, and we have a great variety of different types on the CAL server. They can be generalised in several classes:

Tutorial-style materials for supporting and developing a student's knowledge- and skills-bases.

Simulations, games and virtual environments which exploit the unique features of learning by computer.

Resource-based materials including databases, image galleries, electronic libraries and Web-based resources.
