Installation problems: Trial version's timeout software
needs administrator access on NT machines. Full version probably
OK. Problem restricted to NT.
Description: Long-established Web tool for generating and
maintaining websites. Allows visual editing of tables etc for close
positioning control.
Strengths: Site Doctor for maintaining and repairing links.
Easy inclusion of applets and external files. Drag and drop of widgets
(buttons etc) onto page. Comprehensive on-line help.
Comments: Another program with an established following
on campus. The program was well-received, although with such a large
feature set, its complexity meant that its learning curve was steeper
than with some of the other packages. Unlike Dreamweaver, the additional
on-screen effects and controls are part of the standard package
(which is more expensive than Dreamweaver), and include business-oriented
facilities which educators may not need. Particular strengths were
the W3C compliance, and the ease of setting up frames and tables.
