Background
‘Sport is a distinctive feature of Loughborough’s identity (Loughborough University-Towards 2016 Strategic Plan). This is substantiated by an increasing demand from students and graduates from all areas of study - for information, advice and guidance on careers in sport and for access to employment opportunities at Loughborough and beyond; and from employers – for access to the talented pool of Loughborough students and graduates whom they wish to recruit.
Facing a future where students will have greater opportunities to gain work experience during their programmes and the employability and employment of graduates is higher on the agenda than ever before, Loughborough University is picking up the pace to support its students. Entering 2012, when the sporting spotlight will be on the Olympics in London (and Loughborough), we are embracing this fantastic opportunity to stage a careers event dedicated to sport and its various specialisms.
Focus
Talk Sport 2012 will provide a forum where employers can talk to others in the sector and build a future for their own organisations. Loughborough students can learn more about careers and professional roles related to sport. This networking event will encourage them to ask questions, gather information, make contacts for the future and, where appropriate, put themselves forward for experience and employment.
This isn’t a recruitment event, but some employers will choose to use it as such, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to meet some of the most highly qualified and motivated individuals studying and participating in sport in the UK, many of whom will be our sports leaders of the future.
