Careers Advice for Alumni
As a graduate of Loughborough University you are welcome to use the services of the Careers and Employability Centre. Please see our web page for Graduates.
Alumni Career Contacts
As Loughborough graduate with experience of employment, you are in a unique position to offer advice to current students, staff and other graduates of Loughborough University who are interested in a career in your chosen profession.
The Careers and Employability Centre maintains a database of Alumni Career Contacts who support us in our work with students in a variety of ways. You too can get involved by providing one or more of the following:
- advice on getting a job in your area of work
- a presentation to students/graduates about your occupation
- a short-term or one-year work placement
- an unpaid work-shadowing opportunity
- a research project for a postgraduate student
- advice to prospective international students
By maintaining links with their old university and helping to support others, alumni gain personal and professional development opportunities. Alumni Career Contacts are also invited to contribute to our programme of careers events, e.g. presentations, workshops, career mentoring and work-shadowing schemes.
For more details please read our Alumni Career Contacts – Alumni Leaflet. If you are interested in becoming an Alumni Career Contact please complete the online registration form or contact Gill Clarke, g.c.clarke@lboro.ac.uk.
To keep our Alumni Career Contacts up to date with what is happening in the Careers and Employability Centre you will be emailed a newsletter about three times a year. You will also be emailed approximately every two years to ask you if you wish to remain as an Alumni Career Contact and to check your contact information.
To view the database, or use it for your own career planning, please read our Alumni Career Contacts – Student Leaflet and/or visit our Alumni Career Contacts page for further information. You will need your old student ID number to gain access to the database. So if you no longer have this, please email the Careers and Employability Centre on careers@lboro.ac.uk.

International Alumni Wanted
Are you an International Loughborough Graduate who has successfully gained employment in the UK?
The Careers and Employability Centre runs a mentoring scheme for international students. The aim of the scheme is to provide support to the student regarding how to prepare themselves for the UK employment market. As a mentor you would be able to share your experience and provide helpful advice on all aspects of this, from gaining skills to the immigration rules, to the application and interview process.
We are seeking to recruit international alumni who have found graduate jobs in the UK who would be willing to mentor one student for a six month period, with a minimum of six contacts (a mix of email, phone, face to face) with their mentee during this period.
If you would like to find out more about the mentoring scheme or participate, please contact Michele Zala, International Careers Adviser, m.zala@lboro.ac.uk.
International Graduates - share the secrets of your success
