Update from Dr Jan van der Scheer
24 April 2017
Dr Jan van der Scheer had the pleasure of attending the ICORD 2017 symposium in Vancouver, which was held in honour of Dr John Steeves, who will retiring this year after contributing for several decades to spinal cord injury research. More information on the symposium can be found here: http://icord.org/events/2017/03/icord-sci-symposium/
At the symposium, Jan presented a poster on the systematic review underpinning the physical activity guidelines for adults with SCI, a project that has been undertaken by the Dr Kathleen Martin Ginis from the University of British Columbia (Canada) with the PHC and NCSEM. Please see page 12 of the Winter 2016/2017 PHC newsletter for more info on this project:
Jan is currently enjoying the pleasure of working overseas for three months with Prof Kathleen Martin Ginis and her team. One of their objectives is to develop international and national dissemination strategies so that people with spinal cord injury and their health care professionals worldwide can benefit from working with the physical activity guidelines. More information about Jan’s work in Canada can be found in the upcoming Summer 2017 PHC Newsletter.
