PhD Research Studentship at the PHC
20 April 2015
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship funded by the EPSRC and English Institute of Sport (EIS).
The aims of this PhD research programme are to explore how different areas of racing wheelchair configuration can influence the ergonomics of propulsion for elite wheelchair racers. Utilising innovative equipment developed through the English Institute of Sport (EIS) the project will explore the biomechanical, physiological and performance effects of different wheelchair configurations and how these can impact upon athletes of different classifications and events (short, middle and long distance).
The successful candidate will be required to work in the area of ‘Sport Science’ within the Peter Harrison Centre of Disability Sport (School of Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences at Loughborough University) alongside Research Assistants/Associates that are developing the area of training science in wheelchair sport (e.g. the evaluation of exercise training and interventions for improving mechanical efficiency). The project will be supervised by Professor Vicky Goosey-Tolfrey and Dr Barry Mason.
