PHC Brett Smith attends an All Party Parliamentary Group on Spinal Cord Injury at the House of Lords
28 November 2012
Brett will speak on behalf of the spinal injury charity Aspire, who commissioned his research, into the practice of moving individuals with spinal cord injuries to live in care homes for the elderly.
The study showed that care homes are inappropriate for spinal injured people to live, yet some remain in care homes for up to three years or more. Brett states there have been improvements in transferring individuals from hospital to care homes and is hopeful the MPs will act on his findings from the research.
