Teaching

LMCC plays an important role delivering teaching and practical skills of materials characterisation to our students at all levels, from undergraduate up to PhD, including those working in industry studying part time or wanting a short course in materials characterisation.

We pride ourselves in making modern high specification equipment available to students at the appropriate points in their studies, complimented by expert tuition and technician support. Students within Materials and a number of other Loughborough science and engineering departments benefit from LMCC’s latest research and development in cutting-edge characterisation techniques.

Current teaching activities include; undergraduate modules as part of BEng and MEng Materials Engineering courses:

  • Materials Characterisation and Mechanics
  • Advanced Materials Characterisation
  • 3rd and 4th year projects

Also postgraduate modules as part of MSc Materials Science and Technology and MSc Polymer Science and Technology:

  • Advanced characterisation techniques
  • Polymer characterisation
  • Metals processing and properties
  • MSc projects

In addition LMCC hold a series of Materials Characterisation teaching seminars every year for all new PhD students and research associates, to support their research projects.
