What is involved?
This challenging competition runs over three and a half days. Each team is required to prepare a business plan and make an oral presentation for an imaginary engineering start-up company, with each member assuming a different director role within the company.
The morning sessions are dedicated to presentations from leading industry figures who will expand on all aspects of developing a Business Plan for an engineering startup. Subjects covered include patenting, finance and marketing, as well as case histories presented by successful entrepreneurs.
During the afternoons, and evenings, teams work on their presentations and can get access to one-to-one advice from experienced mentors drawn from commercial and engineering sectors.
On the final day participants make a formal oral presentation of their business plan before a panel of judges comprising business and venture capital representatives.
At least one member of each team must also attend a briefing session, approximately one month prior to the competition. This will be video conferenced from Loughborough University to participating institutions. This meeting provides you with information about what you can expect at the competition and gives teams and competitors a chance to ask questions of the organisers and previous participants.
